
Recently, the Bligh Government launched Australia’s biggest giveaway of energy-saving light bulbs - one million15-watt compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs. Geoff was on hand at the Ferny Hills newsagent to assist residents save around $44 a year and play their part in the fight against climate change by picking up free energy-saving light bulbs.

Geoff and the Hills & Districts Chamber of Commerce were delighted with the success of their recent post-budget business breakfast. The event, held at the Keperra Country Golf Club, welcomed close to 100 guests representing small and large businesses from across the community. The Hon John Mickel MP, Minister for Transport, Trade, Employment and Industrial Relations, was the morning’s guest speaker. Minister Mickel spoke about key features of the 2008 State Budget and how the State Government is planning for and managing future growth in Queensland. The breakfast was a great opportunity for the local Chamber of Commerce and other businesses to talk one-on-one about the State Budget and initiatives that will help their businesses grow.

Geoff hosted a Community Grants Seminar on Wednesday 23 April and it was a great night for all in attendance. The presentations were highly informative for the 40 community groups who were represented by their many members. Information about the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, the Department of Sport & Recreation Funding, Q150, and financial reporting was provided and anyone seeking further information can contact the Electorate Office for details and application forms .
