Geoff Wilson has been working hard to get a new plan for the redevelopment of Ferny Grove Railway Station up and running. As a result of Geoff’s determination to find a solution for local commuters, a developer has recently proposed a $100 million redevelopment of the site. Concept plans have been drawn up and include large commercial and business areas and substantial car parking, which will be available to commuters. Not content with the QR plans that were knocked back in the past, Geoff went to the private sector for a plan that would work for them. The State Government is now eager to meet with the developers and discuss exactly what they have planned for Ferny Grove. The plan will have to obtain appropriate planning approvals and undergo comprehensive community consultation. However, Geoff is delighted that a positive and innovative proposal has been put forward and believes that it deserves everyone’s support. The local community wants a successful project up and running and Geoff will move heaven and earth to make it happen.

Geoff recently toured the construction site of Parkland Manor, a new aged care residence due to open in Ferny Grove in 2009. Following the tour, Geoff and Member for Brisbane, Arch Bevis, planted a native tree in commemoration of the occasion.

Recently, the Bligh Government launched Australia’s biggest giveaway of energy-saving light bulbs - one million15-watt compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs. Geoff was on hand at the Ferny Hills newsagent to assist residents save around $44 a year and play their part in the fight against climate change by picking up free energy-saving light bulbs.
